THE VI EDITION OF CASTELLO ERRANTE IS ABOUT TO GET UNDERWAY

With only a few weeks to go, the countdown is on for the VI edition of Castello Errante, the International Cinema Residence that enhances Italian villages and promotes intercultural exchange between different countries around the world, which will be launched online from 12 to 22 October and subsequently in-person with all selected Italian and Latin American students, in the enchanting Castello di Santa Severa (RM), from 7 to 18 November.

A few days ago, the results of the winners of the calls for the screenplay and troupe for 2022 were published. The winning screenplay, which will be produced during the VI edition of the Residence, is Cosmo & Wanda by Lorenzo Carapezzi with a mention:

“For the originality and the rhythm of the story, the author’s awareness of a sensitive and complex topic dealt with an ironic and fun way, the accurate descriptive ability of the characters, and for meeting all the requirements of the Call.”

This year the project received a huge number of participations, the evaluation commission carried out a complex and meticulous selection process and decided to assign a special mention to another screenplay with the reason:

“For a fresh look at a sensitive issue as death is, for its black humor dealt with a sense of rhythm and maturity, the screenplay by Paolo Caro Silva, Funeral, is awarded the Special Mention. This mention will guarantee the work direct access to the final stage of the selections for the screenplay at the VII Edition of Castello Errante.”

The spirit of this edition is well represented by the new dynamic and engaging graphical interface, by the lunar and inclusive atmosphere, whose landscape borders are in constant motion, in constant search of a definition and which herald a feeling of settlement and landing: after the challenges of the great wave, the uncertainties and the desire to restart that have marked the last two years, Castello Errante from the sea reaches the mainland, aware of the mutations underway on a global scale, and with the desire to continually question itself on new forms of change. A landing that is not, therefore, a goal, but a new course that seeks to intercept the new lines of cultural and technological language, aiming to turn it into a fresh, concrete and innovative synthesis.

For this first phase, the Residence uses the new tool to be released in 2022, created and developed to provide the online experience with great professionalism and innovation, which is also an integrated space for the initial pre production work of the audiovisual products that will be carried out in person: COMBO, the first platform capable of connecting different countries around the world around training and audiovisual production projects.

Castello Errante gets this 6th edition underway by announcing two dates: on 15 October within the programme of the Rome Film Fest, the event open to the public “THE STORY OF CASTELLO ERRANTE”, in the Lazio Region – Rome Lazio Film Commission venue at Auditorium Parco della Musica. A talk during which guests, tutors, participants of past editions, institutional partners, film schools, international festivals will be taking turns on stage to say what Castello Errante is, or has been for them; in November, the second edition of “2020+2” INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM EVENT, a review of Italian and Latin American short films made with IILA – Italian-Latin American International Organisation and the Latin American Festivals that are part of Castello Errante’s partner network.
