NEW CALLS FOR THE 7 TH EDITION OF CASTELLO ERRANTE HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED

The 7th edition of Residenza Internazionale del Cinema (International Cinema Residency), which turns Italian villages into a film set, is underway.
Registrations are open until 1st august 2023.

Castello Errante sets off once again and heads towards the hinterland in search of a new place to call home. This innovative format including training, production and promotion of film-making and audiovisuals is now in its seventh edition. In an unprecedented way, it aims at involving and enhancing the living fabric of Italian provinces, promoting international exchanges and fostering interesting economic spin-offs in the local territories where it operates.

Castello Errante is the first international cinema residency involving Italy and Latin America. Every year, a different village in the Lazio region, which stands out for its cultural heritage and landscape, hosts several professionals from all over the world and turns into a film set, where the international film crew produces various audiovisual works.

You can access calls and send your application from 1st May to 1st August 2023 on the dedicated page of the website, at.

The call, chaired by a commission of experts, annually selects an international crew of film students and young professionals under 35 years of age from Italy and Latin America, with the aim of producing various audiovisual products, including a fiction short film.

The selected students also have the opportunity to participate in various master classes and workshops held by leading international experts in the field, where they can put themselves to the test with new formats, producing content and ideas capable of narrating and documenting the place where they are hosted, thus associating the production programme with an important line of educational intervention, in a diversified context, far from big cities: a new model of audiovisual, collaborative and international production.

With the aim of supporting the creativity of young authors, Castello Errante Call also includes the selection of a screenplay for a fiction short film, with a free theme, which will be produced during the seventh edition of the international residency project.

On the other hand, the Call for the selection of the international film troupe is intended to identify the group of professionals who will produce the audiovisual products during the Residency. The roles you can apply for are: Director; Assistant director, Director of photography, 1st Camera assistant, Sound engineer, Set designer, Assistant set designer, Costume designer, Editor and Film maker.

The backdrop of the project this year is the beautiful Sabina territory, with an enchanting hamlet, to be unveiled in the coming months, which will host young professionals from all over the world, who will have the opportunity to interact on several levels with the territory, fostering its promotion and the consequent visibility of Italian heritage abroad, through cultural exchange, technological innovation, eco-sustainable production processes and new creative models in the field of cultural and audiovisual production.

The film work produced starting from the winning screenplay will begin a promotion process in the festivals belonging to the Castello Errante network, as well as in all national and international events, with competition sections dedicated to short films.

The Project is organised by Occhi di Giove S.r.l., with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Lazio Region, the Ibermedia Programme, under the patronage of IILA (Italian-Latin American International Organisation) and Roma Lazio Film Commission and the cooperation of Doc/it – Italian Documentary Filmmakers Association, and the Embassies of Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Haiti, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Uruguay, as well as several Latin American National Film Schools.

Castello Errante proves again to be a hub dedicated to innovation in the audiovisual industry, a project based on international film making experience and, at the same time, a pathway for the tourist promotion of Italian villages, a forerunner in the development of co-production projects and in supporting the establishment of bilateral agreements between Italy and the Countries involved, and a centre for the promotion of cultural diversity as a driver for exchange and growth.
